Product Life Cycle
Stage in life cycle Description Option available to customer
1. Up-to-date software on subscription Subscription contracts are automatically sold with all new, upgrade and cross grade seat sales for all products (except AutoCAD LT and Sketchbook).Customers who have up-to-date design software on a subscription have access to a world of benefits to add value to their software purchase. To view these benefits, go to the Subscriptions page on the Autodesk website, or reference the Subscription Toolbox Register their account on Subscription Centre and unlock the all the benefits available to them to maximise their software investment.
2. Expired subscription A customer's software subscription is valid for 364 days from the date of purchase, expiring on the 365th day. Should a customer not renew their subscription contract before their expiry date, their contract becomes overdue and they cease to be able to receive the fantastic benefits that the Autodesk Subscription program offers. Renew the subscription pay a late renewal fee (only available within the first year after contract expiry).
2-3 versions outdated In order for customers to experience the latest version of their Autodesk software, they need to upgrade their actual software package as they are no longer able to renew their subscription contract. Because Autodesk is continually adding new functionality to their software products, one challenge of keeping up with customer demand for new technology is the cost associated with supporting older releases. So, like many software companies, Autodesk agree to support up to 3 versions back, after which that software license is "retired" and is no longer supported. Customers are able to upgrade their outdated license to the latest version available, at which time they will also be able to take advantage of their new subscription and experience the benefits that Autodesk's subscription program offers.
4+ versions outdated Once a software license has been retired and is no longer supported by Autodesk, the license is known as a "legacy" license. However, a customer with a legacy product can still experience the latest in Autodesk technology. A customer owning a legacy version will have to purchase an outright new software license, but can do so at a 30% discount. Included in this purchase is 1 year subscription to Autodesk Subscription Centre, where the customer can take advantage of the many benefits available to them to maximise their software investment. Purchase a new software license, but at a "legacy" discount of 30%.
